Compton Fibre News
Dear neighbour,

Compton Fibre Newsletter No.10

A quick update on the voucher redemption process for voucher holders and a couple of other points.

Installation Progress

The allocation of fibre broadband installation dates seems to have been a bit random.
Only four or five of us have the service so far.
March is going to be a busy month for installations, then about half a dozen get their fibre in early to mid April.

If you have any questions or feedback about your own installation, please let me know.

Voucher redemption process - for voucher holders

(updated based on feedback from early installations)

Step 1

After your installation, Openreach contact DCMS to claim the value of your voucher. Timing is up to Openreach.

Step 2

The first you see is an email from Gigabit Vouchers subject Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme – you need to confirm your new connection to receive your grant

Please watch out for this email (check your spam folder).
If the email doesn't arrive within about a week of installation, please let me know.

Step 3

You click a link in that email which takes you to an online form to confirm the installation has been successful.

Step 4

You will get an email with the subject
Gigabit voucher scheme - process complete confirming that DCMS will pass the voucher value across to Openreach.
Please forward that email to me when it arrives.

Audit check

You may be contacted on behalf of DCMS to set up a visit or collect information about your new connection. These checks are generated randomly.

What next?

We've prepared a flyer about the new fibre internet service.

It's designed for residents who haven't been receiving these email newsletters.

It should be back from the printers next week.

Then we'll deliver it to all households in the area covered by the fibre rollout.

And finally

After installation, some people have found that their own wifi can't keep up with their new fast fibre broadband.

If this affects you, Zen and BT have whole home wifi offerings for a monthly fee.

You can buy your own wifi extenders or mesh systems which may be more economical in the long term.

My son is very happy with a mesh wifi system he bought from a well-known online retailer. I have details if anyone is interested.

About this newsletter: We set up this newsletter so that we can send you occasional updates about the project. You can always keep an eye on the project website at cfp.comptonshawford.uk.
