Compton Fibre Newsletter No.4

Dear neighbour,

It's now nearly seven months since we signed the contract to bring full fibre to Compton.
Openreach tell us that they are still on schedule to have FTTP available to order by 12 months from the contract date.
More suppliers are now supporting FTTP, so we'll have a wider choice of provider.

Openreach Fibre Availability Checker

The Openreach Availability Checker now confirms that Full Fibre is coming to Compton. If you feed your postcode and address into the availability checker you should see this:
Better Broadband Is Coming

New FTTP service providers

When we started this project, apart from BT, there was a limited choice of ultrafast fibre suppliers. Several household names are now on the list of Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) providers.
This is good news, but until the service is available, we don't know for sure which of these will offer full fibre support in our area or what the cost will be.
FTTP providers now include the following:
(click on a logo to view that company's broadband packages)
BT Full Fibre
Sky Ultrafast Broadband
Vodaone Broadband
Giganet
TalkTalk Ultra Fibre
Zen Ultrafast Broadband
Also offering FTTP but not (yet) on the list of FTTP providers:
EE Full Fibre Max
Although both are owned by BT, neither PlusNet nor EE are on the list of FTTP providers. PlusNet did run a trial FTTP service, but since the trial finished, they are not offering FTTP.
EE has recently started marketing an FTTP service apparently you cannot combine that with fixed line rental.

Latest update from Openreach

In an email dated 6 October, Openreach confirmed that the work is on schedule.
They wrote:
Everything is now in place and our work is progressing to ensure that you can order superfast fibre in line with our contract agreement which is 12 months from the date the contract was signed.

All of the tasks required are now built into our workforce system and we are currently working with our suppliers, the power companies, the local council and Highways Agency where needed as deployment gets underway.
You may not see our engineers working near to your community as they may well be working at any point along the route from the local telephone exchange.

We will be in touch with you again over the next few months with further updates.

Lynn Homer, Openreach Community Fibre Team

Infrastructure work continues

At the time of writing, Openreach contractors are working in Compton Street near Parsonage Farmhouse.
They've dug up the road, so you can look up the details on one.network.
The works appear to be scheduled for 7th to 16th October.
